This public drinking fountain was very useful when it was really hot. But good beer followed within 1 hour 😀🍺

In the interior of Thassos you will come across several mountain villages. Perhaps the most interesting and certainly the oldest of them is Kastro, which you will find above the resort of Limenaria (about 12 kilometers of driving on a wide and decent asphalt road). The village lies at an altitude of almost 500 meters above sea level. The village is almost completely deserted - only two families currently live here. One of them runs a tavern, so you can also get some refreshments here.

It is not a problem to choose your dream beach on Thassos. In fact, it is a problem because you will not be able to decide which one is the best. Thassos has some of the most beautiful and cleanest beaches in the Aegean Sea, you will find sandy beaches and beaches with smooth marble pebbles, rocky coves ideal for snorkeling and long stretches with a gradual entry into the water suitable even for the smallest children and sports activities. Some beaches are organized, others are wild, there are beaches in full sun and shaded by a belt of green pine trees.

The old settlement stands in the mountains in the very center of the island of Thassos, at a height of about 600m above sea level, a dirt road leads to it from Limenaria, via Kalivia. The village has a small square with a huge oak tree, in its shadow stands a cafe. There is also a church here, stone houses are scattered between the old walls from 1403. The castle was inhabited until the end of the 19th century, then the gradual eviction of the inhabitants began. Today, only a few residents live here, they mostly return to Limenaria for the winter, after the herding season. The white church of the cemetery stands on the edge of the village, and it is also surrounded by medieval walls with a chapel. Nearby is the "kinsterna" - a castle reservoir with water.
