The current castle was rebuilt from 1660 onwards on the site of an older complex (first mentioned in 1281) and was remodelled in the Rococo style by François de Cuvilliés the Elder from 1743 to 1749. The last private owners were Louise Daxer-Piëch from the Porsche family and her husband Hans Daxer. In 1997, the Bavarian International School bought the castle, which maintains a campus in Munich and Haimhausen. Haimhausen Castle is not open to the public for visits. The extensive castle garden has housed the so-called „Haimhausener Quartett“ since the 17th century – an impressive ensemble of multi-tiered lime trees.
