March 6, 2026, Bergische Sonnenbank and View of the Rengse Dam

The Rengse Dam is part of the Aggertal Reservoir. It was built between 1927 and 1929 and continues to fulfill important functions in water management. From the bench, there is a fantastic view across the elongated reservoir with its wooded shoreline.

In 1639, Franciscans settled in this former monastery building in Wipperfürth. They were granted a site on the so-called "Krähenberg" (Crow Mountain) in 1659 and built the monastery building and the church, dedicated to St. Anthony, there from 1670 to 1674. Around 1818, the last monks left the monastery. Afterward, the building housed a prison, followed by a middle school, a high school, and an agricultural school. Since 1969, the Catholic Family Education Center has filled the "Wipperfürth Family House" with life.
