Sioni or Sioni Cathedral of Holy Mother is one of the most famous monuments of old city. Building was proceed during V-VI century and finished in the first part of VII century. Temple is called by Jerusalem Sioni and consecrate in honor of Assumption of Holy Mother. For today Sioni is Cathedral Temple, residence of Catholicon-Patriarch of Georgian Orthodox Church. Here is stored the greatest sanctuary of Georgia – Cross of Saint Nino. She bring Christianity on Georgian Earth. Cross is made with two grape-wines and intertwines according to legend with her own hair. Sioni was ruined several times, but always was raised from the ashes, in spite the high status of the temple appearance is very shy and strict and architectural style remind catholic religious faith structure without décor elements. The only one decoration is high tower with peaked pyramidal dome, uplifted over central part of Sioni. Dome is on the arch of low side window and two colonna reminded arrows.
