Stone Crosses in Bleich In 1948, two stone crosses dating back to the 15th or 16th century were discovered at the corner of Lindenstrasse and Weidachstrasse during the excavation of a cellar. These are believed to be grave crosses for lepers. As early as the 14th century, there is said to have been a leper house on Lindenstrasse, outside the city walls and across the city moat. A leper settlement was previously located nearby, with which Weinsberg's dean and historian Erich Weismann linked the stone crosses. The historian Georg Albrecht confirmed this assumption in a 1951 publication: "When death released one of the poor from his torment, he was buried in the room of his hut, the hut itself was burned along with all its contents, and a cross was erected on the spot as a memorial."
