The Dębowo Lock is the first lock on the Augustów Canal, located right at the canal's mouth on the Biebrza River, near the village of Dębowo. Built in 1826–1827 according to the design of Lieutenant Michał Przyrembel, it is the only historic lock on the southern section of the canal. The stone and brick structure with wooden gates has retained its historic character, and the former maintenance buildings stand nearby. A road bridge, now concrete, spans the lock, replacing a wooden bridge destroyed during the war.

The Sosnowo Lock on the Augustów Canal is a fascinating destination for tourists and water history enthusiasts. Originally built in 1835–1836, it was destroyed during World War II and rebuilt in 1948. Today, it allows for locking over a height difference of nearly 3 meters, a major attraction for kayakers using this popular waterway. The area also encourages exploration of Biebrza National Park, teeming with birds and unique ecosystems, as well as walking and cycling along the nearby trails. It's a great place to combine active recreation with exploring the region's history and nature.

The Augustów Canal is one of the most interesting bike routes in Podlasie, combining beautiful forest landscapes, lakes and historic locks. The route along the canal is well-prepared, partly asphalt and partly gravel, so a trekking bike will be perfect here. Along the way, you can stop at historic locks, such as in Przewięź or Paniewo, and in the summer take a swim in the nearby lakes. It is worth taking a helmet and lights, because parts of the route lead through forests, where it can be dark even during the day. This is a great place for a quiet ride away from traffic and crowds.
