Oxbow is a bit of a hidden gem in Reno. You have to drive through an industrial area that doesn't look very inviting until you pull in to the parking area. Anytime of year is good to visit but the fall colors here are incredible. The trails are mostly wide & well maintained, but some sections can get muddy. There are more trails than what's shown on the maps, so this area invites you to explore a bit.

There are too observation decks near each other here by the pond. One is up a short ramp looking over the trees and the other is down at water level. Both have great views and are good for spotting birds and enjoying the atmosphere.

The Truckee River runs right through the center of Reno and provides miles of trails in both directions. Everything along the river is part of the Tahoe to Pyramid bike trail that parallels the Truckee River from its source in Tahoe City to its end at Pyramid Lake.
