Since casinos are illegal in California, along with most fun things, you can take a quick jaunt out from Lake Tahoe to enjoy some of the casinos Nevada has tastefully placed right on the border!

Where the casinos stop California begins. The cities of Stateline & South Lake Tahoe make up the largest population center around Lake Tahoe and hence, the busiest area for traffic and tourists. If you need anything for your ride this is a good place to get it, as any direction you head from here won't be as well stocked with amenities until you reach the North Shore of the lake.

South Lake Tahoe is an important hitching town for hikers along the Pacific Crest Trail. It is one of the biggest cities you will get into with numerous restaurants and accommodations. There is a big grocery store and an outfitter next to it. The best option to get into town is from Highway 50.
