In 1971, the foundations of the noble house were discovered during excavation work. These remains lay approximately 800 meters west of the Ingen ferry house. The house measured approximately 20 by 15 meters, with a foundation wall 1 meter thick. The buttresses indicated that the house may have had a tower on one corner, although no mention of this is made in old documents. Besides the house, there was also a dovecote and a barn on the castle grounds. The castle grounds were surrounded by a moat on three sides. A wooden bridge connected the castle grounds to the driveway. Due to high water and the passage of time, the house fell into disrepair and was demolished in 1803. A new house was built in its place, which served as the brick kiln owner's residence. The remaining land was sold in 1818 by the dowager of Diederik Bentinck, Lord of Diepenheim. The lands covered an area of 56 morgen (48 hectares) and extended to Ommeren and Maurik. The house and some of the surrounding lands were purchased by Jhr. Dr. Mr. F.A. van Leyden of Westbarendrecht, former Minister of the Interior, who was married to the daughter of H.R. Rijksgraaf Adolph Warner van Pallandt van Eerde. Bentinck's son-in-law also bought some land, as did a daughter of Joan Derk, Baron van der Capellen tot den Pol. Her mother was also a Bentinck who was a distant relative of the van Geldersweert family.

For cycling it's a mixture of interesting because ships often pass by and boring because it's as straight as an arrow.
