The castle was built in the 11th century and was involved in the Hundred Years' War, where it was twice occupied by English troops. The castle is open to the public and has been classified as a historic monument since 1967.

The ruins of Château du Bois Frou in Lassay-les-Châteaux were built in the 16th century and it was once a magnificent residence with four towers, a fountain, a chapel and a drawbridge. However, it was abandoned and fell into disrepair over time. Today you can still see some vestiges of its former glory, such as the gate, walls and windows. The castle is surrounded by meadows which were once splendid gardens. You can imagine what life was like here centuries ago, while enjoying the natural beauty and tranquility of the countryside.
