In the heart of the Gsteigkirche, on the side walls, above the entrance portal and in the choir, there are numerous wall frescoes, some of them very well preserved and lovingly restored. They date from 4 different centuries. The oldest dates from the 14th century. The subsequent pictures were created 100 years later. The fragments in the nave and choir show the Incarnation of Christ and the Adoration of the Magi, as well as scenes from the Passion. They were applied in the al secco technique. Surprisingly, one of the artists has been handed down. This is Master Diebold from Bern. Died in 1473. His works were spread throughout Switzerland, but were largely lost over the centuries.
