A good place to stop is the bench. Here you can still see the remains of an old quarry. There's also an information board about it.

The Elendsklamm is a great and interesting rock gorge. Particularly impressive are the step-like cascades, waterfalls, and bizarre sandstone rock formations that the Frohnbach has shaped over millennia.

The dam wall is already fairly well secured. Without the sign, you wouldn't recognize it. However, the thickness of the former wall is impressive.

Hello, the story of the origin of the word Rautendelein that is described on the plaque is absolute nonsense. My father, who was born in 1897 (he was already 61 when I was born), saw Gerhard Hauptmann's play as a young man. We come from Martinshöhe and he often went for walks in the Elendsklamm. The play impressed him so much that he carved the name Rautendelein into this boulder. And it didn't come about the way it looks now the first time, but rather he deepened the engraving every time he passed by. And that is the true story of Rautendelein in the Elendsklamm.

This section of the path is not recommended at the moment - too much wood in the way 🤪 so the only option is 🙏 for this great path to be cleared again 🤷♂️

The design of the Protestant church points to the 14th century. It stands on the remains of an earlier Romanesque church that was built around the turn of the millennium.
