The original church, built in the Middle Ages of wood, was destroyed by fire. Domancy, an atypical village located in the heart of the Mont-Blanc region. Its Baroque church, built in the early 18th century, houses an altarpiece reworked during the Sardinian Restoration in a neoclassical style. According to popular memory, a church already existed in the Middle Ages. Built of wood, it was destroyed by fire. The current building dates from 1717, but the bell tower is older; it is believed to belong to the first medieval building. It houses a listed bell dating from 1607. The construction of this church is quite exceptional in terms of its execution. Indeed, to avoid the use of scaffolding, the church was filled with earth as it was erected. During the finishing touches, this earth was removed and spread around the building. The church was restored in 1862, 1930, 1945, and 1986. The last restoration brought the original paintings to light. The façade is covered by a very prominent canopy. It is adorned with two frescoes illustrating the Bible. A niche shelters Saint Andrew, patron saint of the church. A trefoiled oculus illuminates the gallery. The nave consists of a single vessel, without side aisles or transept. Its chevet is flat, and the choir houses a high altar, whose marbled columns frame Saint Andrew. The vaults of the nave, choir, and gallery are decorated with frescoes.

The church is beautiful from the outside, but the square in which it is located is even more so.

During the Second World War, Canon Louis DESBIOLLES, then parish priest of Sallanches, vowed to build a replica of the Lourdes cave if the city was spared the bombs. It was in fact in this town in the Pyrenees that the young Bernadette SOUBIRO reported in 1858 several apparitions of the Virgin Mary. Sallanches having been spared by the bombings, the priest kept his promise. Thus on June 14, 1944, this oratory was blessed by Mgr Auguste CE BRON, Bishop of Annecy, in the presence of several thousand people. The inhabitants had dedicated this place for a long time to the mother of Christ. it was already the setting for pilgrimages to the Black Madonna.
