The ferry is fun! But be careful: the slope is quite steep to get there. If you have a bike trailer, I advise you to detach it before getting on the ferry (which we obviously didn't do). It will be much easier. We went up with 2 gravel bikes, 1 trailer, 1 bike + tag-along bike, 1 child's mountain bike, 3 adults and 3 children. It's fine 😁

Villevêque Castle is a former residence of the bishops of Angers. This 12th century fortress, which overlooks the Loir, was rebuilt twice after being besieged during the Hundred Years' War. Today it houses a museum which presents a rich collection of art from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, donated by the collector Daniel Duclaux. There you can admire sculptures, ceramics, tapestries and furniture from different periods and regions. You can also walk in the garden, where part of the Elne cloister (14th century) has been reconstructed. The Château de Villevêque is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
