Tips from the Community

Henry
May 6, 2025, Bennerley Viaduct Access Construction

Bennerley Viaduct is currently only accessed from the west end (the canal side) with construction work to build a new access ramp at the east end. There's no way to cross the viaduct until this work is done, with no apparent completion date. To cross the river and canal you need to detour slightly to the north along some small but rideable gravel tracks. It's doable on 28mm tyres.

Alternative parking can be found here, either in the small car park or on the roadside if ther is no room at the start point. Colliers Wood is on the site of the old Moorgreen Colliery and has been turned into a small Country Park. It has a open air theatre, Wood carvings, a small pond that has quite a few Swans and Waterfowl on it and numerous gravel paths to walk on.
