A friendly 16th century country pub. Run by Butcombe Brewery, the beer is excellent and they also serve great food. The Queens Arms is on the Butcombe Trail, a 47 mile (75 km) circular pub crawl around the Mendip Hills.

The West Mendip Way long distance trail climbs Loxton Hill towards Bleadon Hill. The views across the Somerset Levels and over the M5 are huge.

Bleadon Hill at 143 m is a high point towards the western edge of the Mendip Hills. The road crosses the summit, but there is a nice viewpoint and parking area.

The rumble strips really took me by surprise but they have ways to get around them. Surface of the road is alright but nothing special. I cycled it around 4:30pm so it was as busy as it gets, which was moderate, certainly nothing too upsetting. Views off to Wales and the Bristol Channel islands.

An absolutely beautiful double track turning into singletrack that runs downhill towards Loxton. Fast, rocky, rough and with some beautiful views. Four stars, would recommend to a friend, chef's kiss.
