The old town hall of Tromsø with the music pavilion in front of it is an eye-catcher. Today it serves as the location for a theater project. The new town hall, the library and the Kulturhuset offer modern architecture. The latter is a multi-purpose event center.

Tromsø Savings Bank (Sparebank), is colloquially called the Red Bank. It was designed by architect Henrik Nissen. For financial and practical reasons it was built in two phases. The first part, the southern wing along Bankgata and the middle section towards Storgata, was completed in 1912 and the wing along the Fredrik Langes Gate followed in 1915. Besides the bank, the building housed many other functions, such as the public library, the Freemasons and Norges Hypotekbank (a now defunct government bank). However, the building is now used exclusively by one bank, SpareBank 1, Northern Norway, which has its headquarters here. Source: https://arkitekturguide.uit.no/items/show/879

If you want to eat a hot dog (meat or vegan) here, be prepared to stand in line. The kiosk may look very small, but it is clearly a well-run food stall. The fact that there is a spacious, covered and pleasant seat behind the kiosk will certainly contribute to its success.

It is the only Norwegian cathedral made of wood. It is one of the northernmost cathedrals in the world and, with 800 seats, is one of the largest Norwegian wooden churches. It can only be visited during a mass or concert, which takes place daily at 11 p.m. during the summer months.

While the routes themselves are public roads and paths, specific rules for dogs may apply in certain natural areas or protected zones you pass through. Given Tromsø's variable Arctic weather, layering is key. Even in summer, temperatures can be cool, and coastal winds can make it feel colder. We recommend waterproof and windproof outer layers, thermal base layers, gloves, and a hat or headband. Always carry extra layers and be prepared for sudden changes in conditions, including rain or even snow, regardless of the season.
