If you want to stop in Grosio, this park is a good base. Right in the square of the main church, a few steps from a famous ice cream shop (Valentino), you can stay in the shade of the trees or in a large lawn, leaving your bike at the edge of the park and relaxing before resuming your pedaling.

Towards the hamlet of Frontale, in the municipality of Sondalo, a series of numerous hairpin bends offers a splendid view of the Valtellina. The asphalt climb begins in Le Prese and continues on a dirt road up to the Rezzalo valley and the La Baita refuge. The asphalt ends shortly after the village of Fumero, with a large car park. A documentary entitled "Minör" is set in Frontale, testimony to one of the few quartzite mines still active in Italy.

The Schiazzera refuge is an excellent summer and early autumn refreshment point (in 2023 it is open until the third week of September, on weekends). There are tables where you can take a break while looking at the view or when it is open you can eat excellent dishes cooked by the volunteers who run the refuge. Very recommended as a point of passage or even of arrival (you can stay overnight, with reservation).
