Cortina is beautiful, but the center is also very geared toward luxury tourism. This isn't the center, by the way.

About Angelo Dibona: "ANGELO DIBONA IS THE BEST MOUNTAIN CLIMBER IN THE WORLD." (Guido Mayer - Kaminfeger Mountaineering Group) Angelo Dibona was born on April 7, 1879. His passion for climbing developed at a young age, following in the footsteps of his grandfather, Angelo Dimai, one of the mountain guides of the legendary Paul Grohmann. In 1907, at the age of 18, he became a member of the mountain guides of the German and Austrian Alpine Club (DÖAV). From that point on, his globally unique career in trad climbing began. In 1911, he, Celestino de Zanna, and Bortolo Barbaria became Cortina's first three ski instructors. However, his fame is due to his extraordinary mountaineering endeavors. With his rope team mates, the Mayer brothers and Luigi Rizzi, he successfully addressed the many problems of climbing that were still unsolved at the time and opened numerous grade 5 and 6 routes that are still considered masterpieces of technique and skill. In 1913, he traveled to France, to the Dauphiné Alps, where he completed numerous alpine adventures, including being the first to climb the Aiguilles Rouges du Brouillard and the Aiguille du Pain de Sucre du Soreiller, which is now named after him, the Aiguille Dibona. After the war, in 1924, he returned to Great Britain, where he completed several ascents in the Pillar Group and on the Great Gable. He continued to climb throughout his life and opened his last route on the northwest face of the Punta di Michele (in the Cristallo Group) at the age of 65. He died in 1956. Twenty years later, a bronze bust, created by the sculptor Murer and bearing the emblem of the Ampezzo mountain guides, was erected in his honor. It stands directly beneath the bell tower, in the piazza, which has been called Piazza Angelo Dibona since 2012.

Originally built during World War I and later dedicated to the renowned mountain guide Angelo Dibona, the mountain hut boasts a large panoramic terrace and excellent cuisine. The casunziei, the tagliolini with blueberries, mascarpone, and speck, and the apple strudel are not to be missed. Source: https://cortina.dolomiti.org/de/sci-alpinismo/zum-rifugio-dibona-de-skialp/
