The old bridge of Albino on the Serio river has a typical medieval structure, with four arches of varying width, increasing towards the riverbed and with a limited carriageway (2.2 meters) of pronounced slope. The existence of the bridge is documented since the 14th century; its origins are unknown, but can be approximately dated back to the 13th century, a period when the exploitation of water to power mill wheels and other workshops was spreading. From this period also dates the construction of the Roggia Sega, a canal on the left bank of the Serio which, in addition to a sawmill, also powered a pestle (cereal mortar) right near the bridge. The sawmill supplied timber, which was in high demand and available in the vast wooded areas of Oltreserio. The river divided the territory of the Maggiore Municipality in half, and when it swelled, crossing became impossible: the bridge then became an indispensable structure,

Originally, the current Sanctuary dedicated to the "Madonna dei ciclisti" (Our Lady of Cyclists) was called "Madonna della Neve" (Our Lady of the Snow). Being a classic uphill route, also for some stages of the Giro d'Italia and Giro di Lombardia (in addition to many other minor races), it was later named so towards the end of the last century, considering that a small cycling museum was also created next to the church.
