Giovanni Virginio Schiaparelli was a 19th-century astronomer who was particularly interested in the planet Mars. He saw regular patterns on the planet which he attributed to artificial canals, a sign of intelligent life on the planet. Subsequent scientific discoveries disproved him, but he still deserves credit for reviving interest in the study of the planet. In addition to many other observations and studies, which make him an important scientist. Born in Savigliano, his hometown decided to commemorate him with this monument on the railway station avenue. A monument that still offers a beautiful sight today, especially in favorable light conditions. The whole of Savigliano deserves a visit, and while you're there, also pop in to see the monument to Schiaparelli.

Thirteenth-century castle, remodeled in the following centuries and now the seat of the Municipality. It is located a short distance from the churches of Monasterolo. Easy to reach, it is very suggestive.
