The "Merkury" Department Store in Żoliborz is an iconic example of post-war modernism, designed by Jacek Nowicki. The complex combines the 8-story "Społem" office tower with a lower commercial section and the terrace of the former "Hawana" cafe. Characteristic features include modernist facades, window arrangements, and neon signs with the cooperative's logo and the inscription "Merkury". The interiors are decorated with colorful ceramic mosaics, and the building recently underwent renovation under the supervision of a heritage conservator. Among other things, the neon signs were restored and the "Hawana" cafe was recreated. The facility is on the SARP list as an important example of architecture from 1945–1989 and is considered a significant element of Żoliborz's identity.

Thomas Woodrow Wilson Square in Żoliborz is an important transport hub with bus and tram stops and a metro station. It was built around 1923 as Stefan Żeromski Square, and in 1926 it received its current name in honor of the US president. During the German occupation, it was renamed Danziger Platz, and in 1951 it was renamed Paris Commune Square. The historical name was restored in 1990. The square is home to Stefan Żeromski Park, the Wisła cinema and Fort Sokolnickiego. In 1943, a patriotic broadcast was broadcast from a street loudspeaker, which was listened to by hundreds of people.
