byway which is a mostly grassy singletrack along the edge of fields with a bit through trees. At least in dry conditions very doable on a gravel/touring bike as long as you don't mind long grass and a few nettles.

Great views of...a random village street. There's a nice enough looking village pub I suppose.

The best view of the upper part of Alton Water. A wide, fast descent to the bridge from either direction with a short climb out.

The road is a dead end but the lakeside view is very nice. Worth it if you want somewhere scenic to stop although not always very tranquil in the summer with the watersports centre, neighbouring campsite and playground.

It looks like you’re riding through a period village but it’s actually all part of the grounds and buildings of a boarding school connected with the Royal Navy. Impressive Queen Anne-style architecture.
