Tanon Moralesdore
September 4, 2026, War Memorial on Dresdner Straße

Interesting for me primarily because it is one of the few monuments to the German-French War of 1870/71 in Saxony that I know of. The plaque commemorating the victims of the World Wars was apparently added later. It is also historically interesting how proud people apparently were at the time to have won the war of 1870/71 (inscription: "To the victorious victors").

All views on this slope have now become heavily overgrown. In summer, you can hardly see anything of the city on the opposite bank. A shame. (If in doubt, just keep going.)

With some interesting monuments, bus stop and all the important shops for daily and occasional needs :-) unfortunately very loud due to through traffic. Maybe linger somewhere else?!

Unfortunately I missed it on my tour today :-( that annoys me. The generous construction of the bridges (not just the Pöppelmannbrücke)) also shows very well how much this small river Mulde can sometimes rise.
