The Burgus Burgsalach (also Kleinkastell „In der Harlach“) is a unique Roman complex from the 3rd century AD south of Burgsalach in Bavaria. The square building on the road to Pfünz has a ground plan that is unique in Central Europe, reminiscent of North African structures. The outer walls measure exactly 100 × 100 Roman feet. The rooms are arranged around an inner courtyard, which is reminiscent of North African Centenaria. Previously interpreted as a barracks for a century or a small fort, newer research rather suspects a Mansio (a Roman inn/guesthouse for travelers). The Burgus is part of the circular trail "Römererlebnispfad" with eleven interactive stations for small and large Roman fans.
