Course of the Wyrm (2) 🐲 The Würm River feeds parts of the northern Munich canal system. In Pasing, near the local train station, water is diverted from the Würm River via the Pasing-Nymphenburg Canal. This first flows east through Pasing and Obermenzing into the Nymphenburg Palace Park, then feeds the Palace Canal, the fountain in the palace roundabout, and the Nymphenburg-Biederstein Canal. The latter fills the Olympic Lake in the Olympic Park and flows into the Schwabinger Bach in Hirschau. In Pasing, the Würm River is crossed by Bodenseestraße. In Obermenzing, it is crossed by Verdistraße, which leads to the A8. In Untermenzing, the Würm flows under Von-Kahr-Straße, a major traffic artery. The Inselmühle beer garden is located on the southern side of Von-Kahr-Straße. At Munich's northern border, a weir diverts most of the Würm's water into the Würm Canal, which is also part of the northern Munich canal system and flows into the Schleissheim Canal near the Schleissheim Palace complex. The main branch of the Würm continues north through Karlsfeld. Between Dachau and Karlsfeld, the Reschenbach flows into the Würm, forming the Würm-Reschenbach floodplain, which the city of Dachau has renaturalized. Immediately adjacent, the Würm is dammed by a private hydroelectric power plant. Its course in the city of Dachau passes the concentration camp memorial. Shortly before the Würm Mill, whose miller was responsible for the crossing over the Würm-Amper floodplain in the area where the Würm and Amper meet at least since the 10th century, the Pollnbach flows into it. Today, due to the diversions from the Würm, the water volume exceeds that of the Würm. A few hundred meters further, south of Hebertshausen, the Würm flows into the Amper. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Würm_(Amper)
