A bit pricey, but the food was very good and so was the beer. Nice beer garden.

Phoeben. A place you could pass through quickly – if it weren't for this little stop that changes everything. The Fisherman's Garden is so close to the lake that you can hear the water lapping as you chew. Here, where real fishing nets still hang over the boats, two ladies and a gentleman serve what you call "home cooking" with genuine friendliness, when they're right. Fried potatoes as they should be: crispy, salty, with a hint of the past. And to go with it: pickled gudgeon – for under 15 euros with a drink and coffee. Bike racks are within sight, which is especially reassuring for owners of brand-new e-bikes. And if you don't eat, you just drink – with a view of the boats, the Havel, and life at its summeriest. The Fisherman's Garden isn't an Instagram hotspot. But once you've been there, you don't just drive on. You stay a little longer. And you come back.

I've always wanted to see the church from the inside. But as a cyclist, such a visit is out of the question. And even though I live in Werder, I haven't been there yet.

This is also where you'll find the only rowboat rental on Lake Plessow. This is a very tranquil setting, as there are no motorboats on the lake. Only the fisherman is allowed to use the outboard motor.
