This is a prime example of taxpayers' money wasted. 10 million euros. Plus the associated costs. And for what? This was supposed to be a container handling facility. The idea was to relieve traffic congestion. Many said it wouldn't work. Unfortunately, those "pessimists" were right.

The figure was half-buried in the bushes during my tour. It could be cut out. It looks pretty good.

"... In 1856, the "Bergwerks-Aktien-Verein Cöln-Müsen" acquired the Loher Hütte, but closed it down in 1861. From 1894 to 1950, the site was used by "Hiag" - later Degussa - as a factory for the production of Vinegar essence, wood spirit and charcoal. The former Loher Hütten- und Hammerwerke, a steelworks was named as early as 1489, were also known outside of Siegerland. In 1834 one of the first German coke-fired blast furnaces was put into operation here. Today Kredenbach is home to well-known iron processing companies , tool making and the automotive industry..." The old former mill of Ferdorf. Today privately owned and belonging to the adjacent riding stables. Unfortunately, the building looks very neglected from the outside.
