Baroque church dedicated to St. James, preserved during the construction of the Žermanice dam. The brick nave of the present-day church was built between 1739-1745 according to the design of an unknown author in the late Baroque style. The owners of Horní Domaslavice in those years were the Harasovští of Harasov, who have their family tomb in the old cemetery near the church. The church was built by digging foundations along all four sides of the wooden church and raising the walls upwards, while services were still held in the wooden church, inside the walls. It was consecrated on 12.8.1759 by the Prince-Bishop of Wrocław, Filip Gotthard Schaffgotsch. https://www.beskydy.cz/content/beskydy-historicke-zajimavosti-cirkevni-stavby-sakralni-objekty-kostel-sv-jakuba-v-hornich-domaslavicich.aspx

On Sunday morning, August 6, 1944, the Těšín Gestapo surrounded Životice and launched a reprisal operation under the roof of a local tavern, which had taken place two days earlier. The result was that 36 men from Životice and the surrounding area were shot. In the following days, another 41 citizens were taken to concentration camps. Only four returned alive after the war. The nature trail will take you through the site of these tragic events

"Behold the Heart of the Savior—a clear sign of His indomitable love and an inexhaustible source of true peace. In Him, "truly, all the fullness of God dwells" (Col. 2:9). The peace that Christ brought to earth comes precisely from this fullness and this love. It is the gift of a loving God who loved humanity in the heart of his only Son. "He is our peace" (cf. Phil. 2:14)—exclaims Saint Paul. Yes, Jesus is peace, he is our reconciliation. (…) As we venerate His Sacred Heart today, let us pray fervently for peace: first for peace in our hearts, but also for peace in our families, in our country, and throughout the world: Heart of Jesus, our peace and our reconciliation, have mercy on us!" (Address by Pope John Paul II on June 7, 1999 in Toruń, Poland)

The church was built on the initiative of the Jesuit order, who returned to Cieszyn at the end of the 19th century. The building itself was built at the end of the 19th century. Inside are the relics of St. Melchior Grodziecki - a Polish Catholic priest.
