Tips from the Community

Bernd G
July 24, 2026, Kalvehageneset Coastal Recreation Area

A very pleasant hike. Sometimes over rocks, sometimes some solid easy forest trails but overall manageable for the average hobby hiker like me. No mountaineering skills required but yes, solid shoes is a must for me in any case. Overnight stay for tents allowed, not for motorised vehicles. Toilet and rubbish bin available, no water. Overall, a clear recommendation!

It does not matter, if you get there by foot or pedal (hike the bike for 400m), the reward is granted and guaranteed. Although a typcial dagsturhytta, this location top notch for a break. There is even a possibility for an outside barbcue, a toilet and fire wood provided (100kr per pack) if you need to warm up the hytta or get your open fireplace going. It was the cleanest hytta, I have been too, so far. Highly recommended, if you are in the area.

Great view of Austre Grimevannet. The clouds and small islands are reflected in the lake. A highlight for the eyes. Norway is simply beautiful.

Beautiful new cabin on Kniben with a beautiful view of the surrounding area and the archipelago. The cabins are open and available to everyone. Something like this wouldn't be possible in Germany. Vandalism, etc.

To be honest, I didn't find the hike "easy": you're constantly climbing and scrambling over rocks and boulders. Sturdy shoes are recommended. But you do get a fantastic view in return!

Beautiful walk through the forest, sturdy shoes or hiking boots as you also walk over stones and roots.
