It is one of the most panoramic points of the Sibillini, on the top of a vast plateau that preserves the most beautiful Renaissance sanctuary in the Region. Looking from the pass towards Macereto, the waters that flow to the right end up in the Adriatic, those to the left in the Nera and then in the Tiber and then in the distant Tyrrhenian Sea.

As of April ‘24, the sanctuary is being reconstructed (damage from the 2016 earthquakes). It’s still a great place to rest, but there’s no water available

Lake Fiastra, like many of the lakes in central Italy, is of anthropic origin. It was formed following the damming of the Fiastrone river. It is the ideal place to enjoy a hot summer day away from the crowded beaches of the Conero.

From the broad, grassy slopes of Mount Coglia you can enjoy a splendid panorama of Lake Fiastra. The landscape bears witness to the presence of glaciers in the Quaternary, which retreated and left these rolling hills.

The sanctuary of Macereto was designed by the great sixteenth-century architect, Bramante, and is among the most beautiful Renaissance buildings in the Marche region. Above all because it is located in an enchanting position at an altitude of 1,000 metres!
