We are now walking down Berliner Straße, between the pretty old buildings towards the old town, we also see dilapidated buildings. A grey mood hangs over the city. It is autumn. We walk through the Straßburg Passage, also built in the Art Nouveau style, with its light-flooded roof. Shortly after, we reach Postplatz with its pretty historic buildings from the 19th century. We look at the post office, the regional court, the Palais Victoria, and the Muschelminna fountain. The Frauenkirche is also located here. https://youtu.be/eU7pe2jPE-Q

We use today to explore the city of Görlitz, the easternmost city in Germany. From the train station, we can already see the Cathedral of St. James. A sign points to over 4,000 listed buildings in the city. We reach the cathedral, opposite is the Church of the Holy Spirit. The cathedral is impressively large, the tower is 68 meters high. Striking and beautiful, the red clinker brick, we walk around and find the entrance. It is open, let's go inside. It is in remarkably good condition. If we hadn't seen the cathedral from the train station, we would have missed it. Now in the center of the nave, we look around, it offers plenty of space to breathe. The red, paired with white, looks harmonious. Also interesting is the wall and ceiling design, we look towards the altar. The bells are striking 12 o'clock. https://youtu.be/eU7pe2jPE-Q

The building with the "Golden Gate" on Jakobstrasse has a varied history. It was designed, built, and inhabited by the master builder Franz Grunert, whose delicate initials can still be seen in the Golden Gate today. Later, the house was inhabited by the Jewish merchant family Ephraim. From here, Martin Ephraim managed his business and was actively involved in his hometown of Görlitz. https://www.tripadvisor.de/Attractions-g562766-Activities-Gorlitz_Saxony.html

A beautiful old shopping arcade, but in the past, the shops were better laid out and there was a single floor. Today, the beauty has unfortunately been lost, at least as far as the retail spaces are concerned.
