The castle's name comes from the Hospitallers, who had their commandery there from the 16th to the 19th century. Currently, the building houses the Municipal Library, the Zamek Cinema, the Tourist and Economic Information Centre and the Świdwin Cultural Centre.

Gothic parish church, built in 1338. Over 100 years later, in 1475, the side chapels were rebuilt, where the sacristy was located. The tower was added 30 years later. During World War II, very seriously damaged, rebuilt after the war.

The tower was built on the initiative of the local Beautification Association. The tower was designed and built by master mason Franz Brewing. The cornerstone was laid on April 1, 1911. The grand opening of the tower took place on September 17, 1911. The structure is placed on a square base with a side length of 6.62 m with four pairs of doors built into it. After opening them, one could enter a winding staircase to a spacious viewing platform with a metal observation basket. The structure is 22 meters high For years, celebrations were held at the tower on April 1 to mark the chancellor's birthday
