MOPPER and SCHNÜDEL The two figures "Mopper" and "Schnüdel" originate from Lohr's local history. In Lohr, the popular homemade, plump blood sausage has always been referred to as "Mopper", and the "Schnüdel" are the sausage ends tied with strings. Derived from these terms, citizens born in Lohr were once nicknamed "Mopper", and those who moved in were called "Schnüdel". This tradition has continued, more or less, to this day as mutual teasing. In the figure group, the long-established, well-fed "Mopper" is depicted as a blood sausage and dressed in a butcher's apron. The expression of the plump face shows a grumpy, surly character, who looks down disdainfully on the skinny, bony "Schnüdel". The latter is characterized by the sausage end that forms its head and appears quite self-confident in its gestures. With the raised index finger of his right hand, he seems to be letting the "Mopper" know that, as a citizen who has moved in, he has a claim to equal rights, and with the flat, outstretched left hand, he wants to demonstrate that he also has something to offer, namely skills of all kinds, which he intends to contribute for the benefit of the town.
