Embark on the Great Sibylline Ring: Monte Macchialta Loop, a moderate hike that covers 6.6 miles (10.7 km) with an elevation gain of 755 feet (230 metres), typically taking around 3 hours to complete. You will experience diverse terrain, from natural paths to short sections of asphalt, as you wind through mountain meadows that burst with wildflowers in the spring. A key highlight is the panoramic platform near Monte Macchialta, offering expansive views of Monte Vettore, the Laga mountains, and even the distant Adriatic coast.
When planning your visit, consider starting from Forca di Presta, a common access point for this route. While the broader Monti Sibillini National Park experienced seismic events in 2016-17, this specific trail is generally accessible. Always check local conditions, as some sections of the larger park may have varying difficulty levels or temporary closures.

Going up from Colle, after seeing the church of Santa Maria in Pantano and the urinary, you arrive at the saddle and then at Monte Banditello. One of the most beautiful views of the Sibillini, which follows the crests up to Vettore. The trek is tough but the view completely repays the effort made.

The Pian Piccolo of Castelluccio is a plateau located at the foot of Monte Vettore. An ideal place for walks, excursions and picnics, and during the flowering period, between the end of June and the beginning of July, it is colored with poppies, cornflowers and daisies, offering a unique spectacle.

Leaving the path you reach the Belvedere refuge and the wooden walkway that leads to a panoramic platform. The view extends from Mount Vettore to the Laga mountains up to the Adriatic coast. From the Colle delle Cese refuge it is an easy excursion suitable for families. In summer the path is sunny but it is worth following it.

Very fresh water flows from this fountain. After walking the path from Altino, uncovered and under the sun, it's a pleasure to take a refreshing break here. A few meters away is the small church of Santa Maria in Pantana. Even if destroyed by the earthquake, it still exudes a particular charm.
