Originally a Byzantine monastery complex (around 1418), severely damaged in an earthquake in 1852, partially renovated recently (2022). It also serves as a place of pilgrimage, especially annually on June 13th (Feast of St. Anthony). Late Romanesque/Gothic architecture, approximately 13.5 x 6 meters in size, and fairly well preserved. The path leading there is partly impassable or difficult to access (depending on the season). Frescoes and wall paintings have been preserved inside: for example, a double-headed eagle (associated with the Kastrioti family coat of arms) and a horsewoman figure, interpreted as Mamica Kastrioti (sister of the national hero Skënderbeu). Enjoy your visit!

Built in the 12th century, it was part of the Franciscan monastery of Santa Clara. Currently being restored, see the fresco (a two-headed eagle, the emblem of Albania)

Angela and her husband run this restaurant where you can eat really well at any time of the day - it is also open in winter. But apparently it's important to negotiate a price with Angela before she starts cooking. I read that on Google Maps. However, it's not easy because Angela a) doesn't speak English or Italian and b) stubbornly calls 1000 Leke (equivalent to about 10 EUR) 100 Leke and writes it down that way. I was supposed to pay 130 leke, which would have been only €1.30 for a whole multi-course meal. After at least a 10-minute discussion via Google Translator, she brought out banknotes worth 130 leke to put an end to my confusion - which worked! Although to my eyes the number 1300 was still on these banknotes :-) Afterwards we had a great chat about all sorts of things and her food was freshly prepared and really delicious. She gave me cookies and a small grilled fish. Prepared for the 1000/100 misunderstanding, you can have a wonderfully relaxed time in the Kneta.

Behind it is the beginning of a wooden footbridge that leads over the water to a freshly built cycle path. A fisherman who greeted me behind the gate was clearly happy that I had found my way to him and that he could send me on across the jetty. I suspect that the gate is only intended to keep cars out. Of course, politeness dictates that you close it again after passing through :-)

One of the excursion destinations for the people of Tirane at the weekend. Sit in the spacious garden with freshly prepared food and escape the heat of the valley.
