Start of the trail to Malyovitsa hut. In some places you can also find it as the Malyovitsa eco-trail. The route is not difficult, but it is very picturesque. The hut is located about 3km from the start of the trail and the Malyovitsa and Alpinist hotels. There is also a large paid parking lot there. A large part of the trail goes through a forest and there is a lot of shade. There is a fountain in the middle of the route, so you can safely pour yourself some water.

The hotel is smaller than the Malyovitsa Hotel next door, but it is well maintained. I like the thematic atmosphere, which is created with the many paintings of climbers and climbing routes in the area.

Hotel with a large spa and restaurant. It's a shame that the staff wasn't very charming and that they ran out of coffee cups in the morning, leaving you to drink the thin drink from paper cups. Perhaps it's due to its past as a mountain hut 🤔

You can see horses up here in summer. Follow the signpost and the white and red markings if you want to go to Malyovista peak. The blue and white markings lead to surrounding peaks.

The best time for family hikes in Sofia Province is generally from late spring to early autumn (May to October). During these months, the weather is pleasant, trails are clear, and the natural scenery is at its most vibrant. For higher altitude areas like the Seven Rila Lakes, mid-June to mid-September is ideal, as snow can persist longer.
Yes, Vitosha Mountain, being directly adjacent to Sofia, is highly accessible by public transport. Buses, such as bus 66, and various lifts can take you to popular starting points like Golden Bridges or near Cherni Vrah, making it easy for families to enjoy a day out without a car.
You'll encounter a diverse range of natural wonders. On Vitosha, look out for the unique 'stone rivers' at Golden Bridges. Yes, especially on Vitosha Mountain, there are over 20 working huts, many of which offer food and basic meals, providing convenient rest stops for families. The Malyovitsa Hut is one such example, located in a beautiful area. Pancharevo Lake also offers easy hiking with access to amenities.
