It's not the Matthias Wischler Fountain, but the memorial to Matthias Wieshofer, the dean of St. Johann. Perhaps that could be corrected in the title.

The double fountain is a memorial to the dean of St. Johann, Matthias Wieshofer (1752–1819, dean from 1784 to 1819), who saved the town from destruction by the French and Bavarians during the Tyrolean uprising of 1809. The statue was created in 1908 by Norbert Pfretzschner to mark the upcoming anniversary. The fountain was erected to mark the completion of the newly constructed mountain spring water pipeline at the church square. In 1923, the Wieshofer monument had to make way for the war memorial. In 1998, it was erected at its current location in front of the deanery rectory. It is flanked by memorial plaques commemorating local freedom fighters from 1809.

Today's Kitzbühel Town Hall, a historic building in the city center, has a long history closely linked to the city's development. Originally a mining court until 1821, the building was converted into a town hall around 1840. The current building dates from 1954/55. A relief at the entrance commemorates the ski pioneer Franz Reisch, who introduced winter sports to Kitzbühel around 1892/93.
