The Knöpfelsteiche are located east of the Drachenschlucht, directly on the hiking trail towards Elfengrotte. In total, four small ponds await you here, some of which – depending on the season – are almost completely covered by aquatic plants. Tip: Here at the upper pond, there is a beautiful covered bench – ideal for a short break or a picnic. With a bit of luck, you can observe ducks or even fish, including carp that have been spotted before. Note: Please do not feed the animals. Food scraps can disturb the ecological balance of the ponds, pollute the water, and harm the animals.

The Karthäuserberg was one of the properties of the Carthusian monastery in Eisenach. The monks sold the Karthäuserberg's timber profitably in Eisenach, and the hunting rights belonged to the local ruler. With the construction of Wilhelmsthal Palace, the mountain became a tourist destination and received several vantage points. Source: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karth%C3%A4userberg_(Marksuhl)
