The object was rebuilt in 1708-11 on the site of a medieval border fortress as a baroque water castle. The baroque manor house (always referred to as a castle due to its size) was partially demolished in 1838. Since then, the object has been called the "Halbe Schloss" (Half Castle). Part of the outbuildings have been preserved from the castle's Rittergut (knightly estate). These were repurposed in 2014 as the seat of the administrative community and the municipality. Since the death of the building owner in 1714, the object has served as an educational institution. Around 1975, the last moats of the castle were filled in. Since the school moved out in 1964/5, the object stood empty and was added to the list of the most endangered castles and fortresses in Thuringia in 2013. The object has been revitalized since 2020. In 2022, the securing of the substance was completed, and in 2023, the renovation of the object could be started. https://www.denkmalradar.de/denkmale/halbes-schloss

The station building, the residential building, the goods shed, and the utility building are all preserved and partially restored. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bahnstrecke_Altenburg%E2%80%93Langenleuba-Oberhain

The small lake is said to have inspired Karl May to write his book "Treasure of Silver Lake". The "signposted" circular route is something you have to guess at.
