Shaft No. 5 was part of the modern copper shale mining of the post-war period. In 1950, it was opened for the extraction of copper shale. Still visible are the - heavily overgrown with vegetation - spoil heap and the foundation of the winding engine. A viewing bench offers a beautiful view from the slope of the Hornburger Sattel into the Wäschetal. Mining in this region is considerably older. Already in the 12th century, the Cistercians of the monastery in Sittichenbach mined copper shale here. The old monk's adit is evidence of this.

A large natural boulder with the engraving "Hubertus-Stein 1994" marks this popular resting place in the forest near Rothenschirmbach. The covered wooden benches and tables offer space for larger hiking groups of thirty or forty people. The designation "Hubertus" suggests a connection with the patron saint of hunters, Saint Hubertus of Liège (655 to 727).
