The Freistätter Feldbahn which now drives groups of visitors into the moor, used to transport completely different goods on the historic track. Little locomotive In the moor colony founded by Pastor Bodelschwingh in 1899 for "migrant arms" and welfare children, the railway played an important role from the start. All the facilities of the establishment, the various houses and handicraft businesses, were connected to one another by an extensive rail network.
