...presumably, the Benitz watermill was located here. The village of Benitz was already deserted in the 15th century. According to reports, oak posts from the mill were still visible in the mid-18th century, and the adjacent forester's meadow may have been the mill pond.

Basedow Castle is a real eye-catcher and beautiful to look at. Together with Lenné Park and the small village with the village church, it forms a wonderful ensemble. Unfortunately, the castle itself can only be partially visited as part of a guided tour. But it is also worth seeing from the outside. There is a small path leading directly around the castle. The park is free and freely accessible and it is also worth taking a long walk here. The reflection of the castle in the adjacent village pond is also beautiful!👌 - why they have created several highlights for the same thing here is a mystery to me, as it is completely unnecessary! -

The Lenné Park Basedow is a spacious park that impresses with its views of Basedow Castle. It may happen that some areas are temporarily closed due to broken branches. New benches have been installed throughout the park. After a tour of the park, you can fortify yourself in the nearby Farmer Hotel Basedow or in the Steak Restaurant!

There is a path that goes right around the entire castle. The different views of the castle are definitely worth seeing and interesting. If you are on the way, it is recommended that you take a detour to the adjacent Lenne Park.

The village church is an imposing building that you wouldn't really expect in this area. The church is located on Schloßstraße and is not far from the castle. A visit to the church is definitely worthwhile. The opening times are as follows: 01.05. - 31.10: Tuesday to Saturday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. For me personally, the altarpiece is the highlight of the church. - why they have created several highlights for one and the same thing is a mystery to me, as it is completely unnecessary! -

The obelisk in Basedow is a peace monument. It stands at the end of Schloßstraße in a line of sight to Basedow Castle. The inscription reads: “Glory to God in the highest - peace on earth and - goodwill to men” There is also a small playground adjacent to the obelisk.
