The V-shaped valley “Hölle” is a remarkable, natural valley on the northern edge of the Calauer Schweiz, which creates an almost mystical atmosphere with its narrow, overgrown shape and dark spruce trees. The path down into the “Hölle” is narrow and deeply cut, and this is precisely what makes hiking through it particularly attractive. Water and precipitation once collected here, which led to the formation of a moor. At the lower exit there is an information board that reveals more about the ecological importance and the renaturation projects of the area. The descent is particularly worthwhile from the Kuhringsberg, where there is direct access to the valley.

The Kuhringsberg viewing point is a quiet place that is perfect for a short rest. After maintenance work was carried out here a few years ago, the view has opened up again and in clear weather you can enjoy the view towards Calau. The view remains largely unobstructed, especially in the autumn and winter months. Surrounded by heathland that has regained space due to the removal of pine and birch trees, you can feel the close connection between landscape conservation and experiencing nature. Even if the fog limits the view, the place conveys a pleasant serenity that invites you to linger.

The path through the quiet pine forest towards the Luckaitztal brick tower leads gently uphill over slightly undulating terrain. The scent of the pine trees and the peace, which is only interrupted by the occasional chirping of birds, create a relaxed atmosphere. On the ground there are wide carpets of blueberries, which give the forest an additional splash of color at the right time of year and make the surroundings seem lively. The path is pleasant to walk and offers small views of the surrounding landscape every now and then. Here you can take a deep breath and enjoy nature to the fullest, while the steady but gentle incline makes the path varied.

The Buchwäldchen-Muckwar pond landscape is a fascinating nature reserve that has retained its special atmosphere despite occasional droughts. The ponds, which originated in the 12th century and were once created by Cistercians for fish farming, are now a valuable refuge for amphibians and water birds. Even though the water level has fluctuated in recent years, the area remains a lively habitat. Thanks to the hydraulic engineering measures that have been implemented since the area was transferred to the Brandenburg Nature Conservation Fund in 2004, the balance of nature is maintained here. Visitors can enjoy the tranquility of the landscape on winding paths and gain an insight into the historical significance of the ponds. The region is particularly at its most beautiful in the morning or evening hours when the light gently reflects off the water surfaces.
