The sculpture park is based on Otto Freundlich's vision of a "Paris-Moscow Sculpture Route" for peace and humanity. Freundlich – a German pioneer of abstract art – was murdered in the Sobibor concentration camp in 1943. Since 2001, 120 sculptures have been created over a 21-kilometer stretch in the former sewage fields and in the Hobrechtswald forest in Berlin-Buch. The international sculpture line currently comprises 193 works in five countries (Germany, France, Austria, Poland, and the Czech Republic). The sewage fields around Hobrechtsfelde have been gradually restored to their natural state. From the viewing platform, you have a beautiful view of the area. The flora and fauna have flourished again over the years. The fields are particularly popular with migratory birds, which make their way south in the fall.
