This jetty is not intended for swimming or docking boats. It is purely a viewing jetty, allowing you to see the water surface and the bank zone. It is located on the edge of the protected landscape area and also provides information about it via a large board - especially about the bank area.

After the war of 1870/71 – all participants in the war had returned – the people of Steinhude planted an "Oak of Peace" in the square and named the spot "Friedensplatz" (Peace Square). There was also a large folk festival, which is still celebrated annually today as a marksmen's festival. In 1922, the people of Steinhude erected a "War Memorial" in memory of the fallen of World War I. They named the square "Am Kriegerdenkmal" (At the War Memorial).(https://www.steinhude-am-meer.de/vor-ort/orte-und-plaetze/die-friedenseiche/)
