This museum island consists of two buildings: the former sheep and pigpen, and the actual butter mill building with its authentic butter mill barrel and its waterwheel-driven transmission. Here, you'll find information about the building's history and the Brogmus butter mail-order business. Annually changing special exhibitions can be found in the adjacent building. A fully functioning facility, the butter mill illustrates the former use of a small meadow for dairy and agricultural work: The water dammed in the mill pond drives an overshot waterwheel, which rotates a rotating butter churn inside the dairy building.

The butter mill building is a reconstruction of a watermill. Various sources such as archaeological finds, an old farm chronicle, land registry plans, and photographs made a detailed reconstruction of the facility possible. Between 1862 and around 1920, milk was processed into butter and cheese in the farm's own dairy. Water from the nearby reservoir drove an overshot waterwheel via a chute. The water power was channeled into the building via a slewing ring gear and transmission, where it drove a rotating butter churn. Among the rediscovered traces of the butter mill were the foundations of an oven, which was also reconstructed. Butter and baking days are held during the museum season. The butter mill is a unique example of early agricultural mechanization in Angeln.
