If the battery of the e-bike starts to run low, there is a free charging station opposite the lock, which really impressed me.

The House of Bavarian History in Regensburg is dedicated to the history of Bavaria from 1806 to the present day. It is located on the Donaumarkt square near the Iron Bridge and opened in 2019. Spanning over 2,500 square meters of exhibition space, the museum presents around 1,000 exhibits, including personal memorabilia, that tell stories both big and small. The permanent exhibition explores Bavaria's development from the Kingdom of Bavaria through the Weimar Republic to the modern Free State. A special highlight is the 360-degree multivision "What Happened Before," which humorously conveys the history from 100 to 1800 and includes key historical sites in Regensburg. The offerings are complemented by special and cabinet exhibitions, a museum shop, and the "Brezeria" inn, which serves regional specialties.

In April 1945, the city's bridges were destroyed by the Wehrmacht. Connections between the various parts of the city were thus interrupted. From April to May 1946, a wooden footbridge was built as a pedestrian and bicycle link across the northern branch of the Danube near Jahn Island. In February 1947, the footbridge had to be dismantled due to the threat of a massive ice surge. Reconstruction took place in 1949-1950 as a temporary solution with concrete pillars and a superstructure in the river area using an "LZ bridge device" (lightly demountable) from MAN. Simple steel girders were laid across Jahn Island. The deck at that time consisted of wooden planks. These wooden planks were replaced with concrete planks in 1954, and the load-bearing capacity was increased to accommodate weights up to 12 tons. Due to the extensive damage to the concrete planks, they were replaced with coated steel sections in 1998. The Grieser Steg has been open to pedestrians and cyclists since December 1947. It was built on behalf of the city, although the city was still under American military administration at the time. The pedestrian and cycle bridge, along with the Stone Bridge, creates an important connection to Stadtamhof and the north of the city. Kürn Castle The castle was built by the Lords of Kürn, who had their ancestral seat there. The nobles of Kürn were first mentioned in 1197, and a "castrum dictum Churn" in 1299. After selling the castle and the Kürn lordship to the Paulsdorfers in 1394, the Lords of Kürn moved their seat to Kürnberg Castle near Stamsried, where Hans Kürner is mentioned in 1422 as the last Kürnberger. The Dukes of Bavaria were later to own Kürn Castle in 1623 and the Stingelheim family from 1642 onwards. The castle burned down in 1825, so the castle was rebuilt in classicist style from 1826 onwards. It has been owned by the Counts of Walderdorff since 1830. The castle is a two-storey, simple, classicist four-wing structure with hipped roofs, nine window axes, a gabled central projection and plasterwork. The core of the structure dates back to 1698. The large natural park on a south-western slope includes natural granite blocks and has a rich beech population. Today, only the moat is recognizable from the old medieval castle complex.
