The building was constructed in 1926 and used as a post office and living quarters for postal workers until 1994. Until August 2014, Deutsche Post used part of the building as a distribution center; the remaining rooms remained unused for many years. In 2014/2015, the building was lovingly and meticulously restored in accordance with historic preservation guidelines, preserving everything that could be saved: with great patience and attention to detail, old windows and doors were refurbished, the floorboards were sanded and sealed, and the walls were treated with clay plaster. Several guest apartments and event spaces were gradually created. https://www.altes-postamt-pegau.de/
