As early as 1101, a church was mentioned for the first time on the site of St. James. The current Catholic Church was built between 1854 and 1860. It is a neo-Romanesque sandstone quarder building of a three-aisled basilica whose floor plan is based on early Christian buildings. Parish website Inside the church there is a very voluminously proportioned Baroque Madonna with the Child Jesus on a cloud supported by the heads of angels.

Grosse Kapellenstrasse 21, “Zum Wilden Mann” inn: Built in 1899/1900, it is now one of the oldest brick buildings in our city. In the 1920s, the inn developed into the cultural center of Schifferstadt, was a concert hall, theater hall, oldest cinema and dance hall all in one. The "Wilder Mann" was the place of birth and conference as well as training and exhibition place of numerous local associations. The famous "Verein für Kraftsport" and the DJK sports club "Phoenix" were founded in this building.
